This is a picture of goldfish that I took at PetSmart. When these goldfish are ready to produce they lay hundreds of eggs. The "parent fish" do not take care of the guppies once they are hatched. They let the guppies fend for themselves and only few survive. R-strategists are defined as a species where the mother produces many offspring which do not require attention. Therefore goldfish are R-strategists.
