This is a corn plant. C4 plants are plants in which CO2 is fixed into a compound containing four carbon atoms before entering photosynthesis. C4 plants are well-adapted to normally unfavorable environments, like those with high temperatures, intense sunlight, lack of rain, and lack of CO2 ability. Corn has all of these qualities, which allows it to be one of the most widely used grains and plants for food processing today.
